Active ingredient 01
Leuzea (Maral root)
Rhaponticum carthamoides, root extract
Leuzea grows in the alpine meadows of the Altai and Sayan mountains at 1,500–2,000 metres. In Siberian folk medicine it is known as Maral root because Siberian red deer (maral) dig up and eat the root before mating season. Russian pharmacologists began isolating its active compounds in the 1950s, identifying a group of phytoecdysteroids (most notably 20-hydroxyecdysone) later studied in Russian space-programme research for fatigue resistance and recovery support.

Role in the formula
Leuzea is the primary adaptogen in the Honey Adaptogen Lozenge. It is included to support resistance to physical and mental load without acting as a stimulant. Unlike caffeine, Leuzea works by modulating the body’s stress response (HPA axis) rather than by blocking adenosine receptors, so it does not raise heart rate, disturb sleep or cause a crash on the way down. Russian sports medicine used Leuzea for endurance athletes and cosmonauts; it remains one of the most-studied Russian adaptogens, with more than 60 years of published research.
Safety & who should avoid it
Leuzea is included on the Russian register of food-supplement ingredients and is sold over-the-counter across the EAEU. We do not recommend the lozenge for anyone under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, or on prescription medication for blood pressure or hormonal conditions, speak with your doctor first. Red Root
Hedysarum neglectum, root extract
For centuries, Old Believer settlers in the Altai brewed Red Root as a tea for men returning from long seasons of physical labour. The plant, Hedysarum neglectum, known in Russia as krasny koren, grows in the foothills below where Leuzea grows, in the tundra meadows closer to the valleys. Researchers at the Tomsk Pharmaceutical Institute began characterising its polyphenols and isoflavonoids in the 1990s; the traditional use and the chemistry point in the same direction.

Role in the formula
Red Root is paired with Leuzea in the Honey Adaptogen Lozenge because the two herbs work through different but complementary mechanisms. Russian phytotherapy has used Red Root for stamina, endurance and recovery for generations. It is not a stimulant: it works on the same slow-adaptation logic as Leuzea, through different chemistry. Combining a phytoecdysteroid plant (Leuzea) with a polyphenol-rich legume (Red Root) is a pattern Russian formulators have used for decades; we kept it because it predates the brand and is supported by domestic clinical work.
Safety & who should avoid it
Red Root is included on the Russian register of food-supplement ingredients alongside Leuzea. As with any phytochemically active plant, we do not recommend the lozenge during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for anyone under 18, or alongside hormone-sensitive prescription medication without a doctor’s review.

Base ingredient 03
Altai honey
Raw, unfiltered, single-region, Altai mountains, Russia
Honey is not a filler in the Honey Adaptogen Lozenge: it is the carrier matrix. Raw Altai honey from one family-run apiary near Lake Teletskoye is solidified together with beeswax to form the lozenge body. This is the same matrix used by traditional Russian apothecaries to deliver herbal actives sublingually, long before modern supplements existed. Read the full story of the apiary on the apiary page.

Role in the formula
Honey acts as a sublingual delivery vehicle and a natural preservative. As the lozenge dissolves under the tongue, the honey-beeswax matrix releases the plant extracts directly into the oral mucosa, bypassing first-pass metabolism in the stomach and liver. Honey itself carries trace minerals, enzymes and antioxidants that vary by season and forage; we do not make therapeutic claims about these, but they are part of why a single-region raw honey was chosen over refined sugar or maltodextrin used by most lozenge formats.
Safety & who should avoid it
The product is not vegan. It contains raw honey, so anyone with a known bee-product allergy should not take it. Honey is high in natural sugars; if you are managing diabetes or carbohydrate intake, factor in the per-lozenge carb load printed on the blister.
Base ingredient 04
Beeswax
Cera alba, food-grade, from the same apiary
Beeswax is the structural component of the lozenge: it is what allows honey, which is normally a viscous liquid at room temperature, to hold a solid pastille shape that does not stick to the blister or melt in a pocket. We use pure, food-grade beeswax from the same Altai apiary that produces the honey. Nothing synthetic. No emulsifiers. No glycerol. No microcrystalline wax.

What it is not: not paraffin, not carnauba, not synthetic wax
Role in the formula
Beeswax controls the dissolution rate. Pure honey would melt the moment it touched the warmth of the mouth and be swallowed within seconds; beeswax slows that release down to about three minutes, which is what makes the format a lozenge rather than a chew. It also acts as a natural barrier against oxidation during shelf life, so the extracts stay intact without preservatives.
Taste ingredient 05
Cherry juice
Prunus cerasus, concentrated juice
Concentrated cherry juice is the only flavouring in the lozenge. The two Altai roots are bitter and earthy on their own; a small amount of real cherry concentrate rounds the taste so the lozenge dissolves pleasantly under the tongue without any synthetic flavour, sweetener or “natural flavour” umbrella term. It is whole-fruit concentrate, not an isolated aroma compound.

Role in the formula
Cherry juice is the smallest component of the formula and the only one added for sensory reasons rather than function. We kept it instead of a manufactured flavouring because it lets the lozenge taste of something real (a faint sour-cherry note over the honey) while staying inside the rule that nothing synthetic goes into the product.
What is not in the lozenge
A clean formula: here is everything that is not in it
Halal by formula: raw honey, plant-root extracts and beeswax, with no alcohol, no pork, no gelatin. SFDA halal certification is in progress.
- No added sugar or sweeteners. The sweetness is the honey itself. No sucralose, no aspartame, no stevia, no erythritol.
- No caffeine. The lift is from the adaptogens. No green-tea extract, no guarana, no synthetic caffeine.
- No synthetic binders. No magnesium stearate, no silicon dioxide, no PEG, no microcrystalline cellulose.
- No artificial flavours or colours. No “natural flavour” umbrella terms either.
- No preservatives. The honey-beeswax matrix is self-preserving on its own shelf life.
- No fillers. Every gram in the lozenge is an ingredient with a function. We do not bulk the formula.
